Water Filtration Systems & Water Filters in York, PA

Water You Can Live With...

Replace the current one-sentence page with: Water filters are not one-size-fits-all. Sediment, chlorine, taste and odor, iron, dissolved minerals and drinking-water concerns require different filtration technologies. DeRose Plumbing can test your water, determine what needs to be reduced or removed, and install whole-house or point-of-use water filtration systems for homes and businesses in York, PA and surrounding areas.

Water Filtration Systems We Install

Sediment filters: Cartridge housings or backwashing filtration to reduce sand, grit, rust particles and other suspended debris.

Carbon filters: Improve chlorine, taste and odor concerns and reduce selected organic compounds depending on the media.

Iron / sulfur filtration: Specialized oxidation and media filtration for iron staining and certain sulfur odor issues.

Reverse osmosis systems: Point-of-use drinking-water treatment that can reduce many dissolved contaminants; whole-house RO may be considered for specific applications.

Multi-stage filtration: Combine pretreatment and polishing stages when one filter cannot address all of the water conditions.

Whole-House Water Filters vs. Under-Sink Filtration

Whole-house water filtration treats water pretty much as it enters your home, before it reaches your fixtures and appliances, making it appropriate for sediment, chlorine, odor or other conditions that affect your whole home. Point-of-use filtration treats water at one faucet and is often used for drinking and cooking. Reverse osmosis (RO) is a common point-of-use option when the goal is reducing dissolved contaminants in drinking water.

Whole house filters do not soften hard water, and water softeners are not designed to remove every contaminant from your water. Finding the right system is important, which is why we test your water and design the right system for your home.

Choose a Filter Based on the Water, Not the Packaging

The right filtration system depends on the water source, particle size, or contaminant, flow rate, fixtures and appliances. A filter that is too fine can easily clog if there is a lot of sediment. Filters designed for sediment will not solve dissolved hardness, and carbon treatment for chlorine is different from treatment for iron or low pH.

Again, this is why DeRose will always test your water before we make any recommendations for a filter or treatment system.

Signs You May Need Filtration

Visible grit or sediment in sinks, tubs or toilet tanks.

Cloudy water or recurring cartridge/filter clogging.

Chlorine taste or odor on municipal water.

Metallic taste, orange staining or iron deposits.

Rotten-egg or other unpleasant odor.

A water test showing a contaminant best addressed by filtration or reverse osmosis.

Professional Water Filter Installation & Maintenance

There are many options for whole-house filtration, from single filters to multi-stage filtration systems. A whole-house filter should be sized and selected to maximize your water flow and installed where it can be easy bypassed and serviced to replace old, clogged, or expired filters.

Multi-stage systems must be arranged so pretreatment protects finer filtration stages and other treatment equipment. Cartridges, carbon media, RO filters and membranes, and backwashing media all have different service requirements.
